I am a RN for over 30 years & a Nurse Practitioner for more than 20 years-& am certified as a credentialed addiction recovery nurse-advanced practice! I also work both inpatient at a major NYC hospital full time & part time in a community based addiction & recovery clinic healing& helping drug and alcohol addicted persons& their families! I myself am a stage four Cancer survivor ( SUFFERER!) who gets regular pain management procedures and prescriptions at a Certified, Registered& Highly acclaimed & Fully Accredited pain clinic! NOT A PILL MILL!! I give my own urine for testing (500 drug, chain of custody, complete screening all the time!) I know who needs what & why! Perdue Pharma and certain others have been keeping honest hard working people like myself working productively for years by supporting us OUTSIDE OF A HOSPICE OR HOSPITAL! You are a bitter woman powerless in the face of your adult daughter's addiction! You need support and advice on how not to enable her next "cop" or buy! You need to channel your obvious pain & deserved anger at the network of drug sellers who manage to keep her in her various drugs! If people did not make money on selling Both Prescription AND Street Drugs there would be no Market! If your daughter cannot get her pills, she will use Heroin or whatever she can to get High! Do not blame companies that make drugs for the chemical trap your daughter fell into! She needs help! You cannot help her by condemning every legitimate Doctor, clinic, patient and drug company out there! Her weakness needs your strength not vitriolic condemnation of the entire medical establishment! The system is not irrevocably broken-recent steps to tighten monitoring for doctor & Pharmacy(& Hospital ED) shopping-via each State's new "I-Stop" program has cut way back on prescriptive drug abuses! I am a Nurse, unfortunately living in South FL, OXYCONTIN mega sales area of the US. Purdue Pharmaceuticals NEEDS to STOP manufacturing Oxycontin, or be forced to limit the sales & distribution to In-Patient facilities that treat LEGITIMATE pain by REAL Doctors. Example: Terminal Cancer. My Daughter has not had a life since she was barely 17 years old. Why? She was introduced to OXYCONTIN and became addicted. And not by anyone who possessed a legal prescription. Thousands of people live off of selling their OXYCONTIN Scripts. And I mean paying all of their bills - NOT having to work. Those people obtain single/multiple prescriptions from PILL MILLS here in South FL. Even off of 1 prescription, they can make in excess of $2000. a month. Because of the number of fly-by-night, bogus "Pain Clinics" in South FL that prescribe Oxycontin & Xanax like they are candy, hundreds of thousands of young people under age 24 (24 is the age in FL that you can legally be prescribed the drug) are either dead or addicted. Lives wasted, Parents whose children are dead, Children whose Parents are addicts, Unborn fetuses who are addicted and born prematurely, in hospitals for months - costing MILLIONS of $ to the Taxpayers. PURDUE Pharmaceuticals NEEDS to pay those hospital bills. WAKE UP PEOPLE OF AMERICA. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH - CEO'S OF PURDUE PHARMACEUTICALS. STOP THE INSANE GREED & HAVE SOME COMPASSION FOR THE HUMAN RACE. I HAVE BEEN A HOSPICE NURSE & OXYCONTIN IS GIVEN IN EITHER CONCENTRATED DROPS OR VERY LIMITED DOSAGES-NOT AT THE AMOUNT THAT IS BEING PRESCRIBED TO PAIN-FREE INDIVIDUALS WITH NO DIAGNOSIS THAT WARRANTS THE DRUG. HAVE SOME CULPABILITY, SOME ETHICS, SOME RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR PRODUCT. BETTER YET, MOVE TO THE MIDDLE EAST & GIVE IT AWAY THERE. PURDUE PHARMACEUTICALS COULD BE CREDITED FOR WINNING THE WAR ON TERROISM. CLEAN YOUR ACT UP. CONCENTRATE ON A DRUG THAT ACTUALLY HELPS HUMANITY, NOT YOUR CEO'S & STOCKHOLDERS. MAYBE YOUR CHILDREN WILL BECOME ADDICTED TO YOUR DRUG & YOU WILL SEE WHAT HELL IS. WE ALL HAVE TO ANSWER IN THE END & HELL IS A FOREVER ETERNITY. CHANGE
