Jun, 05 2019Gerald M. Shaw5We started our meal with the standard bread and butter, which was anything but standard. The selection of breads was excellent, tasty and warm. I requested sweet, unsalted, butter and was promptly given an ample serving. So many establishments don't have this. Next we had blue point oysters with two different sauces. Very good. We next had lobster bisque, the soup du jour. This was excellent, filled with large pieces of lobster.
We had a three year old and an eight month old with us for dinner. They accommodated both of them. They offered the 3 year old a child size portion of Mac and Cheese. This was so good that the 5 adults all kept picking at it.
We had salad that was in step with the quality of all the other food.
My son and I split a steamed three pound lobster. The kitchen graciously split the crustacean exactly in half, cracked the shells and presented it beautifully. The Lobster was cooked to perfection.
My son ordered the aged porterhouse steak. He asked for it black and blue. It came out perfect! How unusual. The outside was charred and the inside was red and slightly warm. He could not stop complimenting the taste and quality.
My daughter-in-law ordered the filet mignon done medium rare. Again, perfect. The filet cut like butter. And the taste exquisite.
My wife ordered the veal chop. Perfectly cooked and the presentation beautiful. The meat was attached to a sixteen inch bone.
For sides we had roasted brussel sprouts. The best I've ever had. I called over the waiter to ask how they were prepared. He informed the table that they were marinated in miso and soy sauce before the were put under the broiler to cook. Crispy outside succulent inside. We also had potatoes au gratin. Again delicious. And the last side was asparagus, thin stalks and lots of them.
The wait staff was friendly, warm, gracious and efficient. My water glass was never empty.
This was our first visit, but certainly won't be out last.
